Today's "Some Like it Hot, We Like it All"- 2 designers and a band

Alright we created this post because we simply had to.  Some people are into just 1 thing, but we are into a LOT of things.  We love any kind of design whether it be art, interior, or fashion.  We also really love food; we also REALLY love when our food is designed.  And if you continue reading our blog, you will soon learn that we are obsessed with music of all kinds.  So anyway, you get the point.  We're really hoping this blog can be one big artistic fusion of all the things we love!

So today we are featuring 2 Designers: Anouk B & Alexandar Wang, (Anouk B is really more of a stylist, but for the sake of the blog title, we're calling her a designer) and a band: The Kills.  Remember them?

First, Anouk B is a girl after our own hearts.  We love EVERYTHING she does.  She calls herself a stylist, but really she's an artist.  She says her technique is "perfect imperfection" which usually yields amazing results when someone is as talented as she is.  We think she is the epitome of our style and one day we'll have a home inspired by some of her styling in all black, white and gray, filled with endless textures and lots and lots of love.

Second, Alex Wang can do no wrong.  We aren't too sure there is really much more to say.  Isn't it a little eerie how parallel his stuff is with Anouk's?  (Side-note: we like to merchandise everything in our lives, even our blog posts!)

Lastly, The Kills are just modern day Rock N Roll and we love them.  We also know they're old school but for the sake of merchandising our blog post we had to go with them.  They just matched perfectly, alright!  Um so yeah, Allison Mosshart also sings with Jack White in their band called The Dead Weather, (probs more on that later) and Jamie Hince is Kate Moss's husband so they are collectively just one big bundle of beautifulness.  These are two of our favs:

Rock & Roll!  It's FRIIIIIIIIIII DAY!

Today's "Be Green or Go Home"- A Recycled Home and Hotel

I know, I know!  It's pretty amazing.  We want to live in one so badly....well maybe part of the year anyway.  In case you can't tell at a glance, this first home is actually a recycled container designed by Jim Poteet of San Antonio Texas.  It would make sense to have one of these perched on a lovely landscape in a warm-weather climate somewhere...maybe even in the desert.  Oooo that would be cool.  Then we could hop on the horse and cross the border into Mexico and visit our new favorite recycled hotel.  Scroll down for details.....

K this next one is called TuboHotel designed by T3Arc.  It's in the magic village of Tepoztlan, Morelos, Mexico and it can be yours for the price of $500 pesos a night.  That's right folks.  Do the math.  That's $35.86 in U.S. dollars a night.  It is so cool and at that price, it may as well be free.  Who's coming with us?

Today's "In Case You Forgot"- Okkervil River

Okay so here's the deal: we'll be featuring some totally sweet bands that you may or may not have forgotten about on a weekly basis.  The first is Okkervil River.  My oh my how they blessed our ears with their spectacular tunes so many years ago, but we'll admit we kind of forgot about them.  Turns out they've been rocking out making their new album, I Am Very Far, which came out earlier this year.  We completely missed it because we were caught up in who knows what, but we think they are more than worthy of a mention.

Oldie but goodie....remember this?

Another great old one....

Love to all,

Today's "Parallel"- Tribal

We'll be featuring a "Parallel" on a weekly basis.  Obviously since today's is "tribal", you know we could have gone crazY what with everyone walking around town in indian blankets and such, but we kept it pretty simple just because.

We are big believers that one form of art breeds another and vice versa.  Ever walk out of the house in an outfit you love and show up at a downtown hotel and instantly feel like a chameleon?  Maybe we're the only weirdos that pay attention, but lately we're seeing all kinds of people blending into their surroundings like modern day camouflage.

From our tribe to yours,

GETTING DOWN TO BIZNESS!

Welcome to the new blog!  A culmination of mind-blowing content.  No holds barred.

We think that tune-yards are UH-MAZING!  We must not be the only ones who think their musical art is the best thing to pass through earth since YU55...  Sheesh, $70 at Lincoln Center...  Santa, please, we've been very good this year!

While we found this video most appropriate for day 1 since we're "getting down to business"  don't make us choose our fav's between "Gangsta", "Powa", "Sunlight", and "Lions".
